Dear Representative ______ / Senator _______,
Thank you for your outstanding support of the children in our school and across the state who are recipients of the Exceptional SC scholarship!
We are sure that your lives have been upended like everyone else’s and are thankful for your leadership in these extraordinary times.
We know that you have been made aware of the severe challenges that the Exceptional SC program was facing due to the IRS regulation changes BEFORE the COVID-19 pandemic, so you can imagine the impact on our students and parents.
Our school has ____ students who receive the scholarship and while we were fully funded last fall, fundraising has nearly dried up with the Corona crisis and we haven’t gotten full funding for the spring semester.
While we await word on the IRS addressing the changes they created in how tax credits work for programs like ours, we are thankful that you too are working on some additional changes to our law. If there is anything we as a school can do to assist you, or if you need testimony from our parents or teachers on the issue, we are willing to help.
Thank you for your attention to the legislative fixes (H. 3136) in the most expeditious manner possible given the ever-changing conditions and the legislative schedule.
On behalf of our exceptional needs’ children and their families, THANK YOU!
