Support Exceptional Needs Students…and Receive a State Tax Credit!
The Exceptional SC scholarship fund was created by the South Carolina Legislature to provide students with exceptional needs a portion of the funds needed for tuition at a school that best meets their specific learning needs.
The fund is made up of donations from individuals and corporations who are given a dollar-for-dollar credit on their South Carolina taxes — up to 60% of their state tax liability.
To receive a scholarship, exceptional needs students complete an application to prove eligibility. The Exceptional SC board reviews applications and awards scholarships based on a number of criteria. Students who are awarded the scholarship must attend a school that the Education Oversight Committee has approved for program participation.
As stated in legislation, 98% of all donations go directly to student scholarships and 2% supports program administrative costs.
